A build up of bacteria between your teeth is one of the leading reason for gum disease (gingivitis) and tooth erosion (dental caries). If your gums are allowed to recede the root of the tooth will be exposed, which will accelerate the rate of decay of the tooth. This is why flossing should be apart of your dental routine including correct tooth brushing.
Dental plaque is a build up of the bacteria to your teeth allowing the sticky, colourless film to cover the tooth called, plaque. The bacteria in the dental plaque thrive on sugars and can then produce acids which are decay causing. The acids then dissolve minerals on your tooth’s surface.
