Whenever you visit your local dentist for an appointment they always advise you to brush your teeth everyday to avoid tooth decay, gingivitis and poor oral hygiene. Maybe it is taken for granted that most of us just know how to brush our teeth properly. Unfortunately that is not the case which is why this article will share with you the correct way to brush your teeth.

Here is a list of what you need to remember when brushing your teeth everyday:
Brush twice a day in the morning and before going to bed
If possible try brush after eating food like breakfast, dinner or lunch
A soft bristle toothbrush is the best toothbrush to first start using
Use a 45 degree angle against the teeth
Using a sweeping direction from up to down away from the gum line
Clean teeth in sections
DO NOT press too hard. This can cause damage to the tooth enamel and gums
Apply gentle pressure to get the bristles in-between the space between each tooth
Keep a routine. Start cleaning the upper teeth first then the lower teeth and end with your front teeth.
Start with the outside of the teeth then the inside of the teeth
Remember to clean the chewing surface of teeth
Pay special attention to the back of the mouth like the molars, wisdom teeth, fillings and crowns
You can brush your tongue and the inside of your cheeks for fresh breath
Total time to brush should be about 2 minutes
Finish by rinsing your mouth with water
Using the correct brushing technique will not only help keep your teeth healthy, but also your gums and is a daily tool to use for whitening teeth.
